Ancient Clay Workshop at Appalachian Center for Crafts, July 1997

At the Appalachian Craft Center in central Tennessee, a variety of crafts are taught. Summer workshops attract students and teachers from around the world.

Ancient Clay, conducted by Vince Pitelka, combines hands-on experience in handbuilding techniques with historical perspective via slides, discussion, and examination of actual primitive pottery.

This sequence of photos shows the culmination of the week-long workshop.
